Sweet treats like, cakes, candy, ice cream, chocolate and any other type of desserts are sold everywhere, it is not hard to get our hand on them. Our nearby pastry and bakery sell them almost every day. There are also some people who enjoy making those sweet treats themselves, baking and decorating their sweet treats might be a good experience for them. When on special occasion like birthday party, wedding party, couple anniversary and such, people often use sweet dessert to trait themselves and their guests. In holidays like Christmas, cakes and other sweet treats also served together with other food. When talking about cakes there are so many kind of cakes created until this day. Cakes have a history since long time ago. In Ancient Egypt people already developing baking skills and producing sweetened breads. In the 14th Century Britain shows evidence that they were serving cakes with tea. By the mid-19th century the French included the sweet or we called it today as dessert course at the end of meals included gateau.Aside from tart cake, small sized cake like muffin and cupcake are often served in a special occasions. The main reason is because it will be easier to serve them to the guests as it was in individually-sized small paper cup.

Cupcake which also called fairy cake is a small cake served in a paper cup designed to only serve one person and decorated using edible materials such as icing, fruit, candy, and any other type of food decorations. The earliest extant description of cupcake was in 1796, when a recipe for “a light cake to bake in small cups” was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simmon. In the previous centuries before muffin tins were widely available cupcake were baked in a small individually pottery cups, ramekins, or molds. In the United States cupcake evolved in the 19th century, and it was revolutionary since it saved a lot time in the kitchen when making them.

To make cupcake the easier way you can buy a ready to use cupcake mix from your nearby store, the tools you will need is large bowl, regular size muffin pan, paper baking cups, one-quart saucepan and an oven. After mixing the flour mix, put the paper cup in the baking pan and then pour the mix in it then bake it in the oven. Muffin are derived from the French word moufflet which is applied to bread and means soft. Muffin itself is an individual-size baked product. There are two types of muffin, first is the part-raised flatbread and the second is a cupcake-like quick bread. Making the quick bread is easier than flatbread because it can be prepared quickly and reliably, without requiring the time-consuming skilled labor and the climate control needed for traditional yeast breads. English muffins are flat with nooks and crannies that are crooked, English muffins date back to the10th and 11th centuries in Wales. Muffin at that time were cooked in muffin rings and placed directly on the stoves or bottom of skillets. American muffin belong to the group of quick bread and are made in individual molds. Beat egg with fork, and then stir it with milk and oil. Add flour in a large bowl then add sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the egg mixture to flour and stir until flour is moistened. Fill the muffin cup about 2/3 full and bake them for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

The difference between cupcake and muffins are, first in the traditional cupcake the ingredients does not contain nuts and fruits, while muffin are made with berries, nuts and fruits. Second cupcake only use baking powder and baking soda, while English muffin use yeast as a leavening agent. Third cupcake use many kind of frosting on top of it while muffin only use glaze. Fourth cupcake is typically very sweet while muffin are less sweet, and suitable for breakfast. Fifth cupcake is just and individual-size type of cake while muffin is more in the quick bread type.
